Industry Engagement and Example of Project Work Undertaken and Completed by LRES Training Management
LRES undertakes a range of industry based projects related to training and assessment across all sectors and industries and also works with government agencies on a range of projects. These projects involve industry engagement with a range of stakeholders.
- Development of an offshore delivery package of Accounting qualifications for delivery in Madagascar with credit transfer arrangements in Australia (in place with TAFE Institute), including Accounting Level 1 – Bookkeeper [Technical Education Baccalaureate (Baccalauréat de ľEnseignement Technique)], Accounting Level 2 – Accountant [Higher Technician Certificate (Brevet de Technicien Supérieur)] and Accounting Level 3 – Finance Manager [Diploma (Diplôme)].
- Development of Accredited Course in Mobile Articulated Crane Operation On Road collaboratively with Australian Industry Standards for Office of Industrial Relations (OIR), Queensland and Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), Queensland.
- Development of Completed Residential Building Inspectors Course for registration with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission to meet QBCC licensing requirements to undertake completed building inspections of residential buildings.
- Development of English for Academic Purposes (Intermediate) course (English Language Program aimed at Developing English Language for Participation in Vocational Education and Training), approved for CRICOS delivery for 3 RTOs.
- Development of Training and Assessment materials for Caravan Industry Association Victoria for delivery of Certificate III in Recreational Vehicle Manufacture, Certificate III in Recreational Vehicle Service and Repair, Certificate II in Recreational Vehicle Manufacture and Certificate II in Recreational Vehicle Service and Repair, to be set as a de facto industry standard. Program delivered collaboratively by Caravan Industry Association Victoria and a Victorian TAFE.
- Development of Training Program and associated Training and Assessment materials for AVI30316 Certificate III in Aviation (Remote Pilot – Visual Line of Sight) – Approved by Civil Aviation Safety Authority and first approval for CRICOS delivery of this program in Australia. Subsequent development of AVI30419 Certificate III in Aviation (Remote Pilot).
- Development of MBA in International Hotel Management, Directeur d’Hôtellerie Internationale, including all materials and assessments, assessment processes, records and content. Program delivered internationally.
- Review and update of the current High Risk Work National Assessment Instruments (NAIs) for 13 licence classes (Candidate Version and Assessor Version) and the accompanying Guide for Assessors, in collaboration with Australian Industry Standards Global and Safe Work Australia, including Licence to operate a vehicle loading crane (capacity 10 metre tonnes and above); Licence to operate a forklift truck; Licence to operate an order picking forklift truck; Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more); Licence to operate a bridge and gantry crane; Licence to operate a derrick crane; Licence to operate a non-slewing mobile crane (greater than 3 tonnes capacity); Licence to operate a portal boom crane; Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (up to 20 tonnes); Licence to operate a reach stacker (greater than 3 tonnes capacity); Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (up to 60 tonnes); Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (up to 100 tonnes), and Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (over 100 tonnes).
- Development of a range of Training and Assessment Materials for the Swimming Pool and Spa Association Australia (SPASA) including AHC30916 Certificate III in Landscape Construction and SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail.
- Review and update of the current High Risk Work National Assessment Instruments (NAIs) for 16 licence classes (Candidate Version and Assessor Version) and the accompanying Guide for Assessors, in collaboration with Australian Industry Standards Global and Safe Work Australia, including Licence to operate a Concrete Placing Boom, Licence to operate a Boiler (Advanced), Licence to operate a Reciprocating Steam Engine, Licence to operate a Steam Turbine, Licence to operate a Boiler (Standard), Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding – advanced level, Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding – intermediate level, Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding – basic level, Licence to perform dogging, Licence to operate a materials hoist, Licence to operate a personnel and materials hoist, Licence to operate a self-erecting tower crane, Licence to perform rigging – advanced level, Licence to perform rigging – intermediate level, Licence to perform rigging – basic level, Licence to operate a tower crane.
- Alignment of nine Crane High Risk Work Licence Units of Competency in the Transport and Logistics Training Package with WHS regulations related to High Risk Work Licences (HRWL) for crane operators, as set out in Schedules 3 and 4 in the model WHS Regulations, in collaboration with Australian Industry Standards. Units reviewed and updated: TLILIC0002 Licence to operate a vehicle loading crane (capacity 10 metre tonnes and above), TLILIC0006 Licence to operate a bridge and gantry crane, TLILIC0007 Licence to operate a derrick crane, TLILIC0008 Licence to operate a non-slewing mobile crane (greater than 3 tonnes capacity), TLILIC0009 Licence to operate a portal boom crane, TLILIC0010 Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (up to 20 tonnes), TLILIC0013 Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (up to 60 tonnes), TLILIC0014 Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (up to 100 Tonnes), TLILIC0015 Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (over 100 Tonnes). Development of associated Companion Volume Implementation Guide entries.
- Project management and development of a range of deliverables identifying common competency requirements for job roles used in disaster recovery and requiring resource sharing for the National Recovery and Resilience Project – National Recovery Training Program to professionalise recovery practice and capabilities. The program was in response to recommendations from the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements aimed at improving the standard of disaster recovery support delivered to communities and improve the ability to transfer staff between jurisdictions. The project was undertaken in consultation with the National Recovery and Resilience Agency (NRRA), the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment and commissioned through Australian Industry Standards.
- Undertake project and develop report ‘Identification and Mapping of Competencies that a Person Needs to Safely Operate a Range of Cranes, or Perform Other Activities Associated with Cranes Such as Dogging and Rigging’, as commissioned by Safe Work Australia.
- Project management and deliverable development for the Seamless Future Rail Skills project, in collaboration with Australian Industry Standards (AIS). The project initiated to improve access and pathways to current and future rail skills needed to build and operate the national rail network. This will help increase workforce supply. The Seamless Future Rail Skills project also digitalised training and assessment materials for 15 units of competency for the nationally-recognised qualification TLI40921 – Certificate IV in Rail Network Control. These were developed by LRES on behalf of Australian Industry Standards.
- Project to develop an industry based competency specification and associated training that supports the development and maintenance of knowledge and skills around the safe and effective installation of insulation in existing buildings – ‘EEC001 Prepare for insulation retrofitting within ceiling spaces’ for the Energy Efficiency Council in conjunction with the ACT government.
- Development of the Non-slewing telehandler licence, a licence to operate non-slewing telehandlers with a rated capacity of more than 3 tonnes, for WorkSafe Victoria in collaboration with Industry Skills Australia. Development included development of an accredited course (accredited by ASQA, 11249NAT – Course in Licensing for Non-Slewing Telehandler Operations with a Rated Capacity Over 3 Tonnes), unit of competency – NAT11249001 – Licence to operate a non-slewing telehandler (with a rated capacity greater than 3 tonnes), Model Training and Assessment materials and mandatory Victorian Assessment Instrument for issuance of the Victorian High Risk Work Licence.
