This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to remove and replace the roof of a camper/pop-top recreational vehicle. This unit also covers the removal and replacement of the associated moving parts, such as catches, fabric (canvas/vinyl) and other ancillary components, but not lifters and gas struts. The same roof/components may be replaced, or the removed roof/components may be replaced with a different roof and/or components. The work will be carried out in a recreational vehicle service and repair facility.
This unit of competency covers the preparation for, removal of, replacement of, and clean-up after the removal and replacement of a roof and its ancillary components.
The operator will be required to work to procedures, and follow plans/specifications, insurance requirements and customer needs.
This unit of competency applies to an individual working alone or as part of a team/work group and working in liaison with other shift team members.
